How is El Perro Grande made?
El Perro Grande Tequila is a distilled spirit made from 100% blue agave plant that grows in Jalisco, Mexico. The blue agave plant grows with huge spikes that come up from a central core that is called the pina. After the spikes are removed, the piña is used to make tequila. High in sugar, it’s cooked and mashed, and its sugars are fermented by natural yeast that turn the sugar into alcohol. Then it’s twice distilled, some of our tequila bottled immediately to create our blanco. We age our tequila for at least 6 months in American White Oak barrels that were previously used by Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey giving our reposado and Extra Añejo tequilas their signature flavor profile.
